Baptism Costs

My husband and I would love to get our daughter baptized soon. She's 6 months old and we wanted to do something really simple with just the 3 of us. However, I contacted a pastor that we really like and he said it would cost $250. Does this seem really high to anyone else besides us? I thought that it seemed a bit outrageous, but I'm not sure if I'm just out of the loop or if that's the going rate for Orange County. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Depends on the church? My catholic priest said only a donation was needed, and even then we didn't have to pay if we didn't want to

We also had our baby baptized at a Catholic Church in Orange County and they only asked for a donation.

Our daughter was baptized in a Lutheran church in the city of Orange. They didn't ask for a donation. But you can give one. It actually seems kind of wrong to me that the pastor put a price on it.
