I hafta tell someone... (Work related)

I can't tell ANYONE at my job because of confidentiality and whatever, so I'm telling J12:

One of the temps we hired is a convicted (multiple times) sex offender. Like, the worst, disgusting, most aggressive sex crimes you can think of. Yes... children are involved...

The agency we hired this person through called this morning and said there was a mix-up with the paperwork. The girl said, "I wouldn't normally disclose this kind of information, but I feel like you should know. Just don't tell anyone else there the nature of the convictions. We're going to let (person) go for falsifying the application at the end of the day today."

Now I'm all for giving people the benefit of the doubt (ETA: Under normal circumstances. Like shoplifting when you were 16 or something. NOT sex crimes...)and what not, but this sorry sack of shit has been doing this crap since 1995. Most recent was 2009. I have no idea how this person is not in jail...

Ugh! I'm so grossed out and angry and I can't even look at them without wanting to throw up.

  • Holy shit!  That is disgusting and scary.  I am glad that the agency caught it and is willing to let the person go.  I wish we had a better legal system so people like this were not out in the general public.
  • Sorry for the post and run yesterday.

Thankfully the person is gone now. I googled them and found them registered on two different government sex offender sites.

So, if you were me, would you let the agency slide or would you tell them you can't do business with them for allowing something like that to happen?

My husband was furious. He's worked with the same agency in the past and had a similar issue, though not to this magnitude. I'm leaning toward telling them to eff off...

  • Hmmm.  I am on the fence about telling the agency to eff off.  I mean this person faked/lied on paperwork so it is not like the agency knew and tried to cover it up.  Plus once they found out they did contact you and correct the situation.  I would probably tell the agency that you are upset/annoyed and let them know that this should never happen again.  If a similar situation occurs with the agency than I would tell them to eff off.
  • Yeah, maybe let it slide since they were quick to respond when they found out... Ugh! I hate that I sat in the same room with a monster like that!

  • And I would definitely not want to work with this agency again, since something of this nature has happened twice (one for H and one for you).  Clearly they can't control their shit!
