Medication

Has anyone had any experience getting your child to take a med that tastes nasty? C has croup and was put on a steroid and it really tastes gross.  We ended up pinning her down but it still got everywhere.  The pharmacist told us not to mix it with anything (food).  She refuses to hold her nose too.  Poor thing!

How are you giving it to her? Spoon? Syringe?

This one is in a syringe.  She usually loves meds - on a spoon, cup or syringe.

Bribery with something she loves?  (a couple of M&M's, or something along those lines?)  We haven't gone through this, and I'm just not sure that I could reason with G enough to get her to swallow meds that taste gross.  M&Ms might do it though.

bribery and teaching to hold the nose may work.  my biggest recommendation is to make sure you insert it far back into the bottom of the cheek so it doesn't start to get spit out.  duncan started spitting his reflux meds and it was torture to have to do it over again.  so sorry you are dealing with this.  no fun!

I will try to aim further back in her mouth.  She started choking on it and spitting it out right away. I think the after taste is even worse (according to what i've read online)  Luckily it's only once a day for 3 days....2 more left!  Sadly bribery got us no where.  We even had a strawberry shake lined up as a chaser....no go.

Update:  For those that are interested - Got her to take it by pinning her to the floor with my knees and squirting some in her mouth then having her open up for a squirt of chocolate syrup!  LOL  Hey, it worked!  What a mess though! lol  When she opened for the syrup the meds were able to go down her throat instead of down the side of her face
