diahrrea- should i be concerned?

DS had super watery diahrrea tonight, after a day of being fussy and whin(ier than usual), and not eating much.   He didn't even want to read books and cuddle before bed- he asked to just go to bed (my jaw almost hit the floor).  I honestly didn't think to check his temperature since he didn't seem warm when I got him ready for bed.

I wasn't concerned, but now that I've finally sat down and thought about it...should I be?  I can't think of any cause for having the diahrrea without a fever.
