How much water is too much?

So our pediatrician told us to give Rhys a sippy cup of water with his solids and he has a soft straw cup. He has really gotten the hang of it and tonight he drank a lot of water... Like a whole cup full! Now I'm worried... How much is too much? He nurses shortly afterwards so I don't want his little stomach to be too full, plus I have heard babies can get poisoned from drinking too much water?? Eek!

We are just starting solids so idk if it's different but we were told 1-2oz a day. I am sure you are okay today but I would limit it in the future because I have heard too much water is bad for them at this age.

Thanks! We are just starting out, too... He's been on solids for about a week.

I heard only a couple ounces at each solid feeding. I'm sure he's fine, though.

We were told no more than 4 ozs a day, I am sure it's no big deal

I'm only giving DS a couple oz with solids. DH has a history of over hydration in his family. Sounds weird, but too much water puts your electrolytes out of balance. His brother went into a coma during a mountain bike race from this and had to be airlifted off the mountain. Pretty crazy stuff!

We had our 6 month check up on Monday and the doctor said 2-4 oz of water a day is ok. :-)

My pedi said at the 6-mo checkup that up to 4 ounces of water a day is just fine.
