Lincoln?

How do people feel about the name Lincoln? DH and I both like it but worry that other people will not. Our other top choices are Owen, Cameron, and Andrew. Would love to hear some thoughts.  Also, any suggested MNs?  Charles and Curtis are two potential family MNs but we are open to other ideas.

I like it and I think the nn Link is cute. It's a bit trendy to the 2010s, but still a solid name. Lincoln Charles sounds great. I'm not a fan of Curtis personally.

It's DS's name.  It's kind of a love/hate name on here, and it's definitely trending upward, but we have gotten positive reactions to it (though I think most people we meet are polite enough not to say anything critical in person even if we use a stupid name).  One warning, this name varies drastically in popularity state to state - I don't remember the nationwide stats but it's in like the 160s? and going up for the US, and #15 (!) in Utah, where we lived for a year (after we had DS) and might return someday.  DS's MN is my maiden name, so his full name sounds like a law firm, but I married into a family of lawyers, so that's cool, I guess.  If you're trying to avoid the law-firmy sound then Charles would be preferable to Curtis.

Also, we totally, totally named DS after the president, and one thing that worries me about the trendiness of the name is that it kind of waters down the meaning.   That is important to us and I consider the association with the president a good thing, but for some reason it seems to concern other people who consider the name.

Thanks, all!  I appreciate the feedback.

There are a LOT of boys names that are also last names - Spencer, Mason, Connor, Harrison, Jackson, Kennedy, Parker, Sawyer, Quinn, Taylor, etc..  That part doesn't bother me.

It's a GP girls name for me, I've never seen it on a boy /: but it would pair well with Charles

I love Lincoln! And I like it considerably better than your other FN options. Lincoln Charles is very distinguished.

I don't think you should worry about other people liking the name. No matter what name you choose, someone's not going to like it. Fortunately, the people who matter most in your son's life will love him regardless of his name.

It's one of the few last name as a first name trendy ones that doesn't really bother me. While NMS, it's not bad.

I like Lincoln Charles. Charles is classic.

I prefer your other choices over Lincoln, its just NMS. Owen and Andrew go better with Curtis and Charles.
