Fuck. I mentioned earlier about dropping the (one) nap. My question - at bedtime, if your kid is overtired: are all bets off and you make exceptions because of their emotional condition, OR do you stick to your guns/rules/schedule to teach them screaming can't get them their way?
God I hope this makes sense. I'm kinda upset.
Thanks, loves.

If they're overtired, be gentle and kind.
If they're overtired, they can still learn a lesson. Stay strong.

But if she's overtired because of an illness that's been messing with her sleep ... or jet lag ... or sleeping in a strange place ... then I loosen up and go into survival mode.
Also, you have all my sorrys about the loss of nap. My kid is like a wild animal when she doesn't sleep well.
Why do I second guess my Mother's Instincts? He was a hot mess. Almost made me wish I could nurse again. Shit.
It depends on the kid and the circumstances. I'll change the routine a little, but I won't be a complete pushover. Extra snuggles, water and books. Ok. Cookies and a dance party until midnight. No way.
Transitioning to no naps can be rough for a little bit, but he'll adjust. It'll be ok. I'm an oddball, but I loved when my kids were done napping, especially my youngest that would not fall asleep anywhere except home. It was one less scheduling item to worry about.
