Sticky rubber grip on infant seat handle? *update and thanks!*

So, yesterday I pulled our infant seat out of DS's closet to start getting it ready. When I picked it up the rubber grip at the top of the handle had a sticky feeling to it and made my hand feel sticky. It has been stored in DS's closet since we stopped using so it has had no major temperature exposure and it doesn't expire until 2017. I tried cleaning it with soap and water, lysol wipes, goo gone and Murphy's oil, none of which worked. Any STM's have this problem? The plastic is fine, the fabric is like new since we only used it for 7 months, just the rubber grip. Google was no help. When I get home and have the serial number and manufacture date I am going to call Graco customer support and see if they are any help. Fingers crossed!

Sometimes fabric softener like Downey can take sticky goo off stuff. It might be worth a shot, but f you tried all the other stuf I'm not sure downy will work. Good luck, maybe you can find a pretty cover for the grip...

I had this exact experience yesterday! I used a wash cloth with warm water and Dawn dish detergent. Worked perfectly. Give it a try!

I used dish soap with water yesterday, but will try again. After being on hold for 45 minutes with Graco decided to hang up and try again in the morning.

So, there must be power in Dawn dish soap! I had used palmalive the first time and it didn't work, so i decided to pick up a bottle of dawn and that did the trick! Thank you everyone for the suggestions :-)

*FYI- when i called Graco, they said part wasn't replaceable, but gave me the option to ship mine in and they would send me a new one... really wanted to do this, but they couldn't guarantee it would be here by the second week of December, and i didn't feel comfortable with the possibility of being so late in my second pregnancy with no car seat. But thought i would pass on the information for others to put in their back pocket, especially all the first time moms on here that may be reusing theirs for future children. Just allow for 5-7 weeks for shipping.

So glad you were able to fix it! Guess I got lucky using Dawn on the first try. What a pain!
