Britax B-Ready vs. Uppababy Vista

Good morning ladies,

I have been researching strollers like crazy this past week. I narrowed it down to about 6 and then tested them out at Buy Buy Baby yesterday. I'm thinking the Britax B-Ready & Uppababy Vista are my final two...but they seemed so similar at the store.

Anyone have either? Have any good/bad opinions about them? I'd love your insight. You just can't do a whole lot to test them out in the store.

I have a Vista - love love love love love love love it!

It is big, but it is awesome.

    1. You do have to buy the car seat adapter separately - we had a Chicco Key Fit and I think the adapter is about $35.
    2. I love that the seat faces both directions. When we first started putting DS in it I would have him face me.
    3. The seat reclines in about 6 different angles, and it's super easy to do with baby already strapped in.
    4. HUGE basket - what a lifesaver.
    5. Adjustable handles are big for me (5'5") and my DH  (6'1").
    6. Turns on a dime
    7. HUGE sun canopy. Nothing else comes close. And it comes the rain cover too (Which I've tested and does a good job).
    8. I bought the snack tray add on once DS was big enough to use it and it's great to have.

I love it so much that I also bought a Uppa Baby G-Lite for our umbrella stroller (Which we got when DS was about 15 months).

  • I have the B-Ready. If you get a Britax infant car seat, it snaps right on to the stroller base. It's very convenient in the early months. It has a lot of the same features as PP mentioned: big basket, adjustable handle, excellent turning. My only complaints would be that the back wheels are wide set and it can be hard to navigate narrow pathways and then I sometimes crush my toes while I'm unfolding it. It can also be used as a double, but we are on the fence as to whether we will be buying the second seat. Gotta test it out in the store because some kids hate being in the second seat. I would recommend checking Amazon reviews because there are always very detailed comparisons there.

  • You might want to look at the UppaBaby Cruz (wasn't out yet when DS was born) - it has a lot of the creature comforts of the Vista - no bassinet (Which we only used twice) and slightly smaller wheels.

  • Thanks ladies! I'm leaning towards the Vista. The only thing I didn't really like was the bar that went right across the storage basket. Doesn't that get in the way?

I like the Cruz too. They didn't have one at the store to play with. I think if prefer the Vista though, because space in our garage/cars isn't an issue, and I like the idea that I could add another seat to the Vista if we want to at some point.

I also really like that it comes with the bassinet. It says it's safe for overnight sleeping, and seems like a convenient nap time item to have in the car if we're spending the day at Grandmas.

@sweetky_06 - was there any reason you only used the bassinet twice? Didn't like it?

For walks, it was a pain to pull him out of the car seat to put in the bassinet - just made sense to leave him in the car seat and click it into the stroller. The bassinet is also large and doesn't fold up or anything, so it takes up a lot of space in the car.

I used a Rock 'n Play as what DS slept in as a wee babe in my house, and we don't have any relatives nearby where the bassinet could've been put to use at their house. Between the Rock 'n Play, swing, bouncy seat - no need to use the bassinet in my house either.

  • I have the Vista too and LOVE it. The bar never gets in my way in the storage area and I put a lot of crap in there. I haven't tried the other, so I can't speak to it, but I wouldn't trade my Vista for the world.

Make sure to check the customer service/warranty on the other also.... UppaBaby has replaced my frame twice (once it was damaged on a flight, in the UppaBaby bag it's fully protected under warranty) and another time for something wrong with the stroller. I'm about to contact them for an issue with my basket. The warranty is for 2 years, which is fantastic and will take me well into the first year of my 2nd kid (I used a snap and go until he grew out of the carseat).

I never used the bassinet because he was 6 months when I bought it, but honestly it didn't matter. The other features make up for not using it. Plus I plan on selling that at some point.

  • I loved my vista until my second came along, I hate it as a double stroller! If I could I would trade it for a city select. The vista is a great single stroller but my first 2 are 18 months apart and the rumble seat (second seat for the toddler) doesn't face out so my older one would have his face so close to the back of the bucket seat, it doesn't recline which sucks for naps. Now that he's a bit older we use the skate board plate for him a lot and he likes that. I just wish I took a closer look at the second seat when we bought it, I rely just liked everything about it as a single and knew it could become a double.

  • Thanks for posting this! @manderdoll I'm really glad you compared the vista to the city select because those are the two I'm considering especially since we're planning on having #2 pretty quickly after the first.

  • We're buying our UBvista next month! We tested many and researched them all, and found it was the one for us!

We originally fell in love with the Stokke Crusi but a price tag of $1600 is a bit steep.

  • I am in love with the vista. The b-ready was actually my first choice until I tested it out at BuyBuy Baby - I found it way too bulky.

Thanks for posting this! Looking forward to hearing everyone's responses.
  • I have a B-Ready and have no complaints.  I will say that my deciding factor was the Free Ride Event.  I got the Britax Chaperone free with purchase of the stroller.  We will be purchasing the second seat for it as I think it is a necessity to have the "snap n' go" option in the newborn stage.

Andplusalso -- look at the ways it goes!

@Jules51814 these are two of the more expensive strollers on the market.  You can find an excellent stroller for much less.

  • I would not have gotten such an expensive stroller if it werent for the Free Ride event. We got the B-Ready and the Chaperone (carseat) for under $400 on amazon. Does anyone know if they do the sale more than once a year? I think it's only Sept/Oct.

When I got it, it was in July. I believe it was in June this year and the Chaperone wasn't on it.  Only the B-Safe, which is also an excellent seat.

This, exactly. I have the Britax B-Ready and a Britax car seat. I LOVE it. Huge basket, super smooth ride, very easy to use. The only downsides are it's a little heavy (but I think most strollers in that class felt pretty heavy to me) and the back wheels are wider than you think, as PPs mentioned. It even fits in the trunk of our really small second car! It's been exactly what we needed.

    Edited because mobile is hard.
  • I'm pretty sure this is a zombie post.....buuuut if we're giving recommendations still... I have the UppaBaby Vista/Mesa combo and love it.

  • @Jcrewgirl85‌ , yeah, I didn't see the dates till after I'd replied. Bumping on mobile while nursing = poor attention to detail.
  • FWIW I read this whole thread with interest. We don't have a proper stroller yet, we've been using the car seat and caddy since she was 4 days old. In fact I read the OP, didn't realize it's a zombie, and thought "Oh good, I'm not the only one here who doesn't have a real stroller yet".

Since I'm pretty sure OP doesn't mind if I hijack - how useful is having a rear-facing stroller? Since I only use the car seat I'm used to having her face me as we go out and about, it's hard to imagine not having the option. But it seems like an uncommon feature, so maybe it's not something I'll miss?

  • The facing you option is nice to have, even at this age. We have a BOB and I still use it with the car seat in it/her facing me for when I know she needs a nap, when it's chilly and when I'm using it to work out/stroller strides.
  • Ok thank you - I'm convinced. I just spent the last hour reading stroller reviews .. instead of sleeping or finishing the work I have to do.

  • I've loved my B-Ready for 2 kids now. That's really all I got since I don't have a UBV to compare it too. If you do get a UBV. Make sure it's the new model. They've made some improvements with the rumble seat.
