On out birth month board they post some gtky questions. I thought it might be fun to spice up the international board

.
Where and how long are you living abroad?
What made you move there?
Do you plan on making this your "home"?
How often do you get to visit home?
Re: Getting to know you.
I'm living in Sydney, Australia. I've lived her for almost 13 months now.
What made you move there?
I married and Aussie and we thought it would be an easier way of life here to have children. Our jobs didn't transfer easily in other country and Australia has amazing healthcare. So it made sense to come here.
Do you plan on making this your "home"?
I'm not sure. My husband is a very proud Aussie. I know this is where he wants to be permanently. I can't deny the fact that there are so many perks here. However,I miss my family and friends terribly. No one has met my baby yet and that is a hard. I also miss New York City and New Jersey. The hard part is that it's just so far away from everything and expensive to fly anywhere.
How often do you get to visit home?
We have not been yet. We are hoping to book a trip for the winter.
I am in a little country in Easter Europe called Estonia. This Nov will be 4 years.
What made you move there? My husband I are missionaries, basically pastoring a church my father in law started about 7 years ago.
Do you plan on making this your "home"? There is no specific amount of time we plan on living here. It depends on meeting the "goals" we've set. Besides my heart is in beautiful Southern California!
How often do you get to visit home? We visit at least once a year.
Where and how long are you living abroad?
I'm in Sydney, Australia
What made you move there?
I met my (now) dh 14 years ago when I was studying abroad in London. I later moved there to be with him, and I ended up living there for 6 years. Then we travelled for a bit and moved to Sydney where he grew up.
Do you plan on making this your "home"?
Yes I do. I've been here 5 years now and we are quite settled. I do still miss my family a LOT though, especially now with dd. But we always say 'nothing is forever' and I am open to moving back to the states or somewhere else too. Just because we have a house I don't neceessarily think we'll be here forever.
How often do you get to visit home?
We got back once a year, during the US summer for a few weeks.
It's also nice to see that "home" has become where all of you are living! I'm not there yet. I've been here for just over a year. Although I love Australia I'm still homesick.
What made you move there? I was studying abroad in Italy and met my German husband while traveling. I wanted to live abroad for a while and decided to go to grad school in Germany. Time flies and 9 years later, I am still here.
Do you plan on making this your "home"? Well after 9 years, this has become my home. DH and I both have good jobs here, but Munich is very expensive and we pay way too many taxes ;-) We want to have our children in Germany - the healthcare system is amazing and benefits for mothers are wonderful!!! We plan to move to the States (PA/MD/NJ) - my plan is to be back before any kids start school.
How often do you get to visit home? I usually go home twice a year.
BFP #1: EDD 05/27/2014 (D&C 10/17/2014)
I'm from the NJ/NY area too
Before we got engagaed/married I made him PROMISE me that he was open to the possiblity of moving to the states one day. It may or may not happen, but I had to know that he was open to it!! But yes I agree it takes a long time to feel settled. I moved abroad a long time ago, and have been in Sydney 5 years. I remember my first year in London being SO SO hard. It gets easier with time, I promise
We live in Scotland and have been here almost 2 years. Our visas are good for another year...
We both got jobs here and were 31 and childless; seemed like if we ever were to go abroad it was time
I love it here but I don't really plan much. My adult life has proven that my life will look completely different than expected every couple of years! So I would be happy to stay but don't necessarily expect to.
Because of our awesome European vacation we go back twice a year- once in summer and once over the holidays. Can't wait to introduce our son to everyone!
