I am 6 weeks today. I will have my ultrasound next Wednesday. When do I call my OB to make an appointment? Should I call now or do I wait until RE sends me on my way?

My re wanted me to see my ob before I graduated from him at 12w so I made an appt for 10w.

My re told me when it was time to schedule an ob appointment at one of my appointments. I was 8 weeks or so and she said to tell them to schedule me for my first prenatal appointment so they would squeeze me in at 10 weeks. You could ask at your appointment on Wednesday when she thinks you may graduate to your ob.

I went ahead and called my OB to set up an appointment before I graduated from the RE. My only and last u/s with the RE was at 7 weeks. My OB wants to see patients at about 9 or 10 weeks for the first time, I told them about being under the care of my RE, so the appointments worked out.

At the very least it can't hurt to call your OB and ask about a prelim appt. This way you won't have to be pushed back to a later date because they are booked up.

I did the same thing as @twistsandturnsto2. I called and made an appointment for 9-10 weeks before my ultrasound because they told me as long as everything looked good my 7 week ultrasound would be my graduation day, but what I didn't know was my RE wanted me to have a OB before I left her so it was a good thing I called ahead of time and didn't have to deal with that after.

I knew I was expected to graduate at 8 weeks so I scheduled for 10 weeks with my OB ahead of time. I wanted to be sure I could get a slot with her. Good luck!

I'd suggest calling the OB and telling them the situation and let them decide the protocol.  Turns out mine does a prelim appointment with the NP @8 weeks for things like a pap, b/w, and paperwork so the appointment with the OB a couple weeks later is with a complete chart.  I have my (hopefully) last RE appt and my first OB appt on the same day!

I would go ahead and call your OB - they may have a timeframe when they want to see you, despite what's going on with your RE. Even if you have some overlap between OB and RE, it's better to be set up and prepared. GL!

Call now in case it takes while to get an appt. I made my OB appt when I was 5w1d and the first appt wasn't until I was 9w2d so better to call ahead!!!

My RE doesn't graduate us until 12 weeks, so my appointment is then, but I did wait too long to decide who to use (I didn't believe I would actually need one!) and it was hard to get an appointment!

I'd call the OB and see what they suggest. My RE doesn't graduate till 10-12 weeks. They are all different.
