Coat vs Jacket

At what temperature do you choose a coat over a jacket. It's currently in the 40's here.

It's not really a decision in which I choose what to wear.  I just choose to be warm and I'd much rather over dress than under dress.

Team hates bulky coats.  I will only wear a bigger coat if I'm going out to play in the snow with DD.  Otherwise, I may just slip on a warm sweater or a cute jacket. Scandinavian blood FTW.

I try to hold off on busting out my warm winter coat as long as possible.  It was in the low 40s this moring and I went with my midweight fall/spring jacket.  It was mid 50s by lunchtime-- way to warm IMO for a winter coat.

Maybe once we are topping out in the 30s?

I'm in Colorado, and I usually wear a jacket until mid November.

Highs of 55-65: Light jacket/trench coat

40-55: Wool coat

Below 40: Puffy coat

I'll wear a hoodie and a vest for as long as I can. It's been hovering around 8 celcius here all week, I hate coats, hate getting hot, I'd rather be too cold than too hot any day.
