Record wake-ups

It was something like 25 times last night!  I'm all about my son being an over-achiever and all but... :)

He's 8 months old and has a LOT going on.  Top teeth are coming in, he started crawling on his knees two days ago, he's been pulling himself up and bending over to pick things up, etc.  The only way I could get him to settle was to have him sleep on my chest (latched on too).  Even then he only stayed asleep for an hour at a time.  I love coffee today.

He's always yanking at his ears.  I know this is more likely to be from the teething pain, but combined with the wake-ups and hating to lay on his back for a diaper change, could this point to an ear infection?  No fevers, cold, just cranky (which I've been hoping is from the wonder week and development).

Re: Record wake-ups

  • It's likely teething related, but if it would set your mind at at ease, it wouldn't hurt to ask the pedi to peek in his ears.

My DS is doing the same thing, though he's 2 and nothing is going on. I think it's the change in the weather.

This too shall pass. Hang in there! ;)

  • My kids have had ear infections without fever or other symptoms. I'd get him checked out. Does he always fuss while lying down? Is reflux a possibilty?

    DS2 - Oct 2010 (my VBAC baby!)

  • He fusses sometimes when laying down--mainly when he's getting his diaper changed.  Especially before bed (probably tired). As soon as he is able to flip over and crawl away, he's a happy dude.  Not sure about the reflux.
