We have the opposite problem here--she won't take her costume OFF. She wants to wear it all day, every day--even to sleep. She had a meltdown about taking it off the other day because she want to "show grandpa"
I definitely would try associating the costume with candy.
I was about to give up on Halloween entirely because I wasn't going to force the issue. But then I asked her if she wanted to be her favorite thing EVER (train conductor) and she was all about it. Maybe let her participate in the decision making process?
