TMI- Pain in the @$$

Literally.

So apparently when I push babies out my nethers, it really hurts my bottom. I get hemorrhoids and anal fissures. With Lucy, this was all gone by my 6 week check-up.

This time, the feeling of pooping glass shards lasted 12 weeks and I had to use hydrocortisone and good ol prep H suppositories to deal.

Welp, the pain from the fissure has returned. Blood in the toilet and the worst pain ever. I eat plenty of fiber and drink water so I'm not even pushing (sorry for that image) but it still feels like I'm being ripped in half. I live in fear of having a BM.

I keep reading that surgery is sometimes a must. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice? I have zero medical insurance right now so maybe I just need advice on coping until I can get coverage and really deal with it permanently. :(

  • Same here! Nice to know others going through the same thing. I dealt with it as well till I couldn't take it any longer so I Just saw the doc for it and she gave me some cream that has clotrimazole and lidocaine (numbing agent) and said to apply it 4-6 times a day and use tissue wipes with witch hazel and that should do the trick.
  • I have fissures, but not because of having the baby. They suck! I have some prescription steroid cream, but don't use it often. Soaking in warm baths help a lot with easing the pain. The warm water brings blood to the area to help with healing. I stop bleeding after a couple baths.

  • I have a fissure (way more painful than any hemorrhoids, like take your breath away pain). Went to a colon and rectal dr and he told me to take Metamucil daily and prescribed nifedipine to apply 3x daily. Well the Metamucil made things worse so I switched to Miralax and I had my first pain free bowel movement since baby. I'm hoping I won't need surgery now. Good luck!
  • I dealt with this for at least at 12 weeks up until about 16 weeks. I was shocked because I didn't feel this before that time frame! I literally held on to the toilet, or grab bar at work bracing. Thank God it finally went away! But I now have a problem when I have diarrhea it's like I have no muscle to hold it! Guess I should have done kegels
  • I bleed too. It sucks!

  • Yes! I just had a hemorrhoid lanced last Friday, honestly it was so worth it for me. The pain I was having from the stupid hemorrhoid was way worse than the 24 hours of pain I had after the lancing. My mom had to have a full hemorrhoidectomy after her first childbirth and it helped her a lot but she said it was awful so I'm hoping to avoid that! My hemorrhoids are definitely from pregnancy and pushing for 3 hours and they just gradually got worse. I swear I haven't pooped normal since before Hudson was born! I guess the bright side of a csection is I hopefully won't deal with hemorrhoids next time!

  • nupercainal is a good over the counter, I think it numbs better than Prep H also like PP said, soak in warm baths and take a daily fiber supplement and possible a stool softener. GL I know it sucks :(

  • Same exact thing with me. After I had DS, everything was gone by like 6-7 weeks PP. This time, they went away after a few months and they have returned. I dread taking a crap. I'm glad I'm not alone. I really really don't want surgery.

I may just stay in denial and maybe they will just go away. That's how it works, right? Right!?

Not necessarily. I had a csection and I've been struggling with these same issues since first trimester. Mine are from chronic constipation that just won't go away even though I've had the baby. Go away, I say! He's 4 months old for goodness sake.
  • Wow. I'm so sorry that so many of us have been dealing with this! Thanks for the advice ladies-I hope we can all get relief somehow.
