Let's talk Tennant

I read on a site (Entertainment Weekly?) that they are bringing Broadchurch to the states and keeping David Tennant as the main character.  I haven't seen the show yet, but it seems they might change some things around plot wise?  Also, the only reason I put the cartoon Tree Fu Tom on for DD is because he is the voice of Twigs.  Mmmmmmm Scottish accent.
