Did you know deafness can happen from pg??

I just learned this over the Christmas break.  The person knew someone who was fine then had a baby and bam, totally deaf.  She didn't know exactly what caused it, but it was FROM the pregnancy (or..delivery??)

Scary stuff.  So here's the list I know of, albeit rare:

heart damage

permanent incontinence

hemmroids the size of oranges (gastro dr told me about a patient like that..)

deafness

psychotic breakdown (I know of a mom who had a baby, had a psychotic breakdown and will spend the rest of her life in a mental instutition - she was beyond repair.)

  • Isn't Debbie Downer a character on Saturday Night Live?
  • I read that in a textbook, but like you said, it's rare. I don't know of anyone that has actually happened to.  My step-mom is an audiologist, I'll have to ask her if she knows of anyone.
  • my cat's breath smells like cat food?
  • ok, weren't you the person that felt the need to clarify to a nestie that child abductions were very rare (after we were talking about the adam kidnapping from years ago) and that it really shouldn't be something we should worry about....and then you post this crap.  Um, what for?

    So, so bizarre.

  • bells palsey (sp?)

About 2 weeks before a friends baby was born, she developed bells palsey.  The right side of her face is still a little paralyzed, kind of like a stroke victim.

  • Did you know that dentists have recommended that a toothbrush be kept at least 6 feet away from a toilet to avoid airborne particles resulting from the flush?

My brother won't even keep his toothbrush in the bathroom, due to a fear of fecal contamination of the mouth.

I am not scared, though. I keep my toothbrush IN the toilet.

  • breeze and those that quoted her...

I am truly L'ing OL right now.  Usually I type it and I'm not really hysterically laughing, but I think I may put myself in labor if I don't stop now.

I keep those covers on ours, in a drawer in the cabinet, the drawer furthest from the toilet.

DH is very bad about remembering to put his cover back on.  Last night I took B'sdiaper off to put her in the tub and couldn't find the wastecan, so I tossed it onto the cabinet, right on his toothbrush.  (I clean my cabinets, toilet, tub, nightly).

Didn't know it until he brought the wastecan back in and picked the diaper up.  He had to make a late night run to the gas station so he would have a toothbrush this AM.  I was out of extras in the house and I keep unused ones in our luggage, but it was seriously too much trouble to get into.
