Iowa confession for you. Iowa= small town, easily dazzled in my vernacular. Not sure where I picked it up, but I'm not the only one I know who says it. Maybe from seeing too many musicals? State fair, music man, etc.

Example of usage. One time we were in a mall, and a Chilis had an "outdoor" patio. We were still in the mall, but they set it up to look like you were outside. DH was all "oh, neato! It's like an outdoor patio! Cool!" And my response was "what are you from Iowa?".
Guess my perception is off.

I'm from the MN south metro, but it might as well be Iowa as far as my friends north of the Cities are concerned.

MOA represent! I grew up in the south suburbs, but fled the cold.

I love living in Iowa! The cost of living is low and the people are really nice. Plus the Hawkeyes!! Ask me again in Feb though when it's -15...

Technically I'm FROM Iowa, in that I was born there and lived there for 5 years.  But I haven't lived there since Kindergarten.

Have you never heard people call the entire US between the East and West coasts called "The Flyover", because it's what you fly over when you're going from NYC (or DC or Boston, etc) to California?

Also, west is the best. You know it's true because it rhymes. I could never live in middle America, because I love being within a couple hours of the ocean. I need to see the ocean every so often.

What college did you go to? DH went to Coe. I'm a KU grad, but we currently live a little outside of Iowa City.
