Ovarian cyst?

I am 7 weeks and I keep having ovarian pain on one side. It is a dull ache but it hurts enough that I keep taking Tylenol to try to relieve it. I had an ectopic before and this doesn't feel the same and I have had zero bleeding (bled the whole time with ectopic). I am thinking maybe an ovarian cyst? Anyone have experience with this?

Yes, I've had ovarian cysts.  But no one here can tell you if that's what you're feeling.  Even if what someone explains is exactly what you're feeling, doesn't make it the same.  If you're worried you need to talk to your doctor.
Son: Jackson, 11/02/06, stillborn due to PPROM and IUGR. Over the next ten years we had 9 miscarriages from 8-14 weeks. On May 18, 2016 my daughter, Ridley, was born. We're OADNBC.

  • I've had ovarian cysts... but I was not pg. I never felt anything, actually. No help, I know. I would probably run it by my doctor, for peace of mind.

  • When you had a cyst, did the pain come and go or was it constant? I don't think I've ever had one, so just trying to get an idea of what it is like. Did it cause bleeding?
  • When I had cysts, I had zero pain. I felt no difference. I only figured out they were cysts my period was late and I wasn't pregnant, so they did ultrasounds (this was multiple times).

  • I had a large cyst (size of a chicken breast) in 2010 but I wasn't pg. The only symptom I had was needing to pee a lot as it was pressing in my bladder. My doctor found it during my annual and he kept asking if I was in pain. I never was. He said I should have been in a lot of pain. They did surgery and removed it. I now have less than half my left ovary.

Probably no help for your situation though. Sorry!

  • I should also add that I didn't need to remove it. It ruptured naturally. THEN it was painful.

  • Yeah, I agree with LoHerrim, when I had a cyst rupture I could barely walk I was in so much pain. Either way, whether it's a cyst or not, if you are having enough pain to be repeatedly taking meds you should call your dr.

  • My doctor found a cyst on my ovary during my ultrasound at 7 weeks. He said it is really common in pregnancy. A cyst often forms on the ovary that releases the egg. I have no pain and no bleeding. They will recheck at 12 weeks.

  • They found one on my left ovarie today that measured 3cm. Didnt say anything about it tho. I will definitely follow up with it at my OB
  • Corpus luteum cysts are good. It occurs where the egg ruptures from the ovary. It sustains your pregnancy until the placenta takes over.
  • I just had an ultrasound this weekend and I had the same pains you are describing.  It turns out I had a corpus luteum cyst on that side like I predicted. The tech even showed it to me on the screen plain as day.  She also said it is necessary for the baby until around 12 weeks, and then it will dissolve once the baby forms a placenta.  That's where it is getting it's supplies from :)
