At 31w2d, baby b's amniotic sac ruptured without any warning signs. I was airlifted to my MFM's hospital and NICU, and they were able to stop contractions for a few days. However, on Wednesday evening my contractions picked up again. Although a few shots of terbutaline helped keep them at bay for a while, by early Thursday morning, I was in full labor and not responding to anti-contraction meds, so my MFM decided to do a C-section immediately (at 32 weeks this was safer for them than a vaginal delivery). My two beautiful GIRLS were born at 2:20 and 2:21 am weighing 4 lbs and 3 lbs 6 oz. They both came out crying, and seeing them for the first time was the most emotional and wonderful moment of my life.
They are both doing very well for just 32 weeks. Although both had to be intubated after birth, that was removed within a day. They are both still on a little breathing assistance, are digesting breast milk well, and learning to regulate their temps. I was discharged yesterday, but both girls will be here in the NICU for another 4-6 weeks, which will be hard. Although I wish they could have stayed in a little longer, they are doing really well.
Thank you to everyone for your love and support. After 5 years (and almost 3 years posting on these boards), I feel so lucky to have been blessed with these two beautiful little girls. I will still be around to help cheer all of you on.
