When to use the Graco Blossom 4-in-1 high chair

My twin daughters are 4 months old (adjusted age 2 months and our pediatrician says that developmentally they are at 3 months). They are currently on bottle only, haven't started solids yet but plan on doing so in a couple of weeks, when they are just about 5 months old. We have the Graco Blossom 4-in-1 high chair and from what I have read thus far, it says that it has an infant seat. My question is:
- Is it safe to put my twin daughters in there (they about 12.5 and 13.5 lbs)
- Can I bottle feed them in the high chair?

  • We put DD in hers when she was 4 months just so she could hang out with us at the table.  We reclined the seat.  She didn't start solids until 6 months and was EBF, so I'm not sure about the bottle thing.

  • I start around 4 months.  I let them sit at the table with us and play with toys.

  • We had a different reclining high chair and our daughter was in it for all suppers from about 1month on.  She lounged, watched us, napped.  As she grew older we reclined it less and she started playing with toys.  Now she is 7.5 months and we are BLW so she eats with us.

From the start she would be content in it for 20-30min or how ever long we ate.  Now at 7.5 months she eats and then just chills with us.  We expect that as she grows she will be at the table until we are all finished and the earlier they start that the easier it is.

I'm not a fan of the propped up feedings.  Whether nursing or bottle feeding I believe it should be a time to connect and cuddle etc.  That said, I have worked as a nanny for a couple of families with infant twins and things just work differently with twins!  If you are trying to feed them both at the same time then maybe have one in the high chair beside you and you hold the second...then switch at next feeding so every second feed they are held and have that touch.  But frankly, if having both in a high chair for feedings so you can eat too is what you need to do to survive and stay sane than that is what is best for you and your children so don't feel guilty about it!

  • Thank you ladies. May be we won't feed them in it initially. We will starting solids for them in a couple of weeks so I do like the idea of getting them used to sitting in it before we start giving them solids so we are not introducing too may new things at the same time.
