Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

What time is nap?

DS is 16 months old. He seems to be pushing his nap a little bit later now. He wakes around 7:00 AM and was taking a nap at 11:00 (sleeping for 2 hours). Lately he stays up until 12:00. Will he continue pushing the nap time to later in the afternoon, or is noon a normal nap time for a while?

Re: What time is nap?

  • Hi, my daughter is 21 months old and has been taking her nap at noon for a few months now.  I don't anticipate pushing it back any later otherwise it would screw up our bedtime and night time routine.  Her average nap is 2 hours.  And she gets up around 6:45 - 7am.

  • DD Is 17 months, wakes between 6:30-7:00 and I put her in bed for her nap at noon. If I put her down earlier, she either can't sleep or falls asleep but wakes after a short time. We've been on this schedule for over a month and it seems to be working well.

  • DS in in DC and they nap between by 1 (after lunch) until around 3.  His class is for kids 12-18 months.  On the weekends we still usually do a short morning nap around 9, though.
  • LO's class lunch at 11:30 and then nap immediately following.
  • DS was doing 11 or noon but recently he doesn't seem tired so I make the decision to put him in his crib at 2.  I have heard that it does get pushed back a little once they get older, he is at home with me but I think DC start giving them after lunch.  He goes down for about 2 hours and it hasn't changed his night time routine.
