Transitioning from bottle to solids

Hello. My daughter is almost 7 months old and I'm looking for advice from parents with older kiddos.  I know that their primary source of nutrition for the first year is breastmilk and/or formula.  I'm thinking ahead and wanting a good book to read about this transition.  She is currently happily eating solids 2-3 times per day, on top of 30-33 ounces of formula per day.  Any resources that you found particularly helpful?

Re: Transitioning from bottle to solids

  • Honestly we just made the transition with the advice from his pediatrician and our instincts. We were told kids over one should drink 12-24oz of milk per day so we cut back his milk, increased his water, and increased his solids to three meals and two snacks. It seemed like he hardly noticed the change.

  • I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it with my own eyes - but they really can just make the switch themselves.  My son became more interested in solids and started decreasing milk intake all on his own.
