Bottles

Does anyone else still use them it am I alone? DS gets a nighttime bottle still and a morning one. I'm trying to break the morning but it's hat because he totally relates the bottle with cuddles an mommy time. He strokes my hair and holds my hand...it's adorable. I've tried a sippy but he doesn't drink and fusses for a bottle. I know he wants the cuddles and bond more than anything. Any ideas?

Re: Bottles

  • Joe gets a bottle before nap and bed. DH has gotten him in the bad habit of needing one if he wakes in the middle of the night too. I'd love to break him of it soon, but it's the only way he'll drink his milk too.

  • Guilty! We still do the same - morning and night. I'm not super worried just yet but I know we should start to think about getting rid of them soon.

  • eh, we just do straw sippy's because he gets them and I can rinse and re-use. I see nothing wrong with it. Plus when I was talking to my pedi's nurse because of the wicked diaper rash she brought up using bottles so it must still be somewhat common.

  • Once in awhile. Pretty much only if ds is very tired. For example, a few nights ago we were at someone's house for dinner. With the change in scenery ds barely ate anything. Usually we give him milk a little before bedtime, but he fell asleep on the ride home. When we got home he just wanted to continue sleeping, but we felt he needed more calories for the day so we gave him a bottle then.
  • We use them sometimes if she's sick, or if she is having a rough night.

  • Still using bottles for first and last feeding here too. Our Pedi says the comfort is fine as long as they want it.

  • Yep, every day. First thing in the morning (which has recently been so early that she goes back to sleep after the bottle) and at bedtime. We haven't done anything to wean off them. Probably should be. I was planning to wait a few more weeks.

  • We still use a nighttime bottle - probably going to be breaking that habit this week.  We will give him a sippy of milk.....  We always brush his teeth after the bottle, so it will be the same thing with the sippy.  And it's only 3oz!

  • She still gets a nighttime bottle. Our pedi says no bottles after 12 months but She'll drop it when she is ready. DD1 was on bottles till 15 months when she dropped them cold turkey.

  • We do a bottle before bed and nap time. It's really the only way he's doing a liquid intake during the day, he acts as if sippy cups are just a pain in his behind. He also gets one if he wakes in the middle of the night. We are going to transition completely within a few weeks... and I'm already dreading it.
