Cleveland Babies

day cares for full time infant

Hello, I am expecting my first child in April and was just curious around how much per week/month would it cost around the Cleveland area? Strongsville/Parma..ect... Just trying to see how much, I am probably going to end up staying at home with baby because I hear it can be as much as $900/mo fulltime plus there can be a year or two waiting list! Yikes... Just want to see how accurate this is.. I could always call some places but I wanted to check on here first! Thanks;)

Re: day cares for full time infant

  • I was just looking into daycare centers in the Parma-area. I only looked at three, but they all were $800-$900 a month for full-time infant care. I was panicked about a waiting list, too, but none of the three I looked at had one. We only looked at the big centers so I'm not sure if daycare centers affiliated with churches are different.

  • We're in the Akron area and I found the prices here ranged from $205/week to $247/week (so roughly $800 to $1000 a month).  We also found the bigger centers (KinderCare, Goddard School, etc.) were more expensive than the "mom and pop" centers.  I was also warned that places book up in advance, but in all actuality we had no issues getting our son in.  We started doing tours about 6 - 7 months before we planned to start sending him.  In my experience call around, take tours, and go with your gut! Honestly, there were places that after talking to them on the phone I didn't even tour because they were that rude on the phone and I had plenty of other options (with positive phone experiences!!). Good luck!!

  • Hi. Any info on an in-home center? Are they any less than a day care center? Chocoroom, did you find anything out about church affiliated places? Just found I am pregnant and now starting to look into everything. Thanks!

A great resource for searching is the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services website.  They have a search engine there so you can look for licensed day care facilities by zip code.  Also, you can read their current inspection from the state.
