Torn between two

We still have plenty of time to decide, and don't even know whether we're having a boy or a girl yet, but I'm interested to see which of our top two girl's names (if either!) people prefer. DH is leaning toward one, and I'm leaning toward the other.

TIA!

I do prefer the spelling of Gwyneth.

I'm having trouble choosing between that and Carys though. I know one Karis (misspelling of Carys), and no one named Gwyneth.

I feel like I hear more about Carys on here though.

    ETA: Voted Gwenyth/Gwyneth

Thanks for the input!  I'm glad no one has been too horrified by my names (at least so far!)

About the spelling of Gwenyth... I've seen a number of spellings, including Gwenedd (which in Welsh would have a slightly different pronounciation).  Here's basically why I'd opt for Gwenyth over Gwyneth, from the namenerds site:

"In feminine names, the form is always Gwenas in Gwennan, Gwenydd... etc.

In masculine names, the form is always Gwyn, as in Gwynfor"...

  • And since someone asked... originally I was all for Carys, but I've found myself leaning more toward Gwen lately.  DH is still rooting for Carys.

  • Both great!  I voted for Carys though because I really really love that name! I know a lot of people aren't familiar with it, so it will experience a lot of questions and mispronunciations, and for that reason I'm not sure I would use it in the fn spot... more guilty pleasure for me.

  • I like both quite a bit. I guess I prefer Gwyneth.
  • I voted Gwenyth but I also prefer the spelling Gwyneth. You could still easily use Gwen.

  • Am I the only one that would pronounce Gwenyth and Gwyneth differently? I would say Gwen (short e) and Gwin (short i), respectively.

  • I agree there's a somewhat different pronunciation :)

  • I LOVE Carys!  When I was a teenager, a family friend named their daughter this and I've loved it since.  I don't know anyone else with this name.
