Thoughts on Macie

DH really likes the name and so do I but I'm not sold. I don't know the best way to spell it.
Macie
Maci
Maisie
Maisy
I know I definitely don't like Macy

Do you think people will pronounce it M-ah-see instead of May-see?

Re: Thoughts on Macie

  • I prefer the spelling of Macie. Not a big fan of the S or the 'ai' in the middle of it.

    I had a cat named Macy, so it's hard for me to see on a human. :) and I can see it being super cute for a little girl, tween, and even a 20-something.....but it doesn't seem like a name that would age well? Placed on a professional resume? Again, maybe that's just me because I just see it on a cat. :)

  • Of them, probably Macie.  Maci looks way too cutesy.  And Maisie and Maisy don't sound the same to me in my head.  Those read May-Zee to me.
    All of this. I actually really like Macie!

  • Macie = may sea
    Masie = may zee

    Macie is a nice name, I would definitely spell it this way.

    This. But I'm also a Teen Mom whore and keep thinking of Maci Bookout. I'm sure most people wouldn't make the connection though since it's not that popular of a show. Especially now that they stopped filming and are on to Teen Mom 2 and Teen Mom 3.
  • I would go with Macie and I don't think anyone would have a problem with pronunciation.

  • I prefer maise to macie, but they are two different names

    If you're going for may-see, I like the spelling macie

    maise = may-zee

  • As PP pointed out, Macie =/= Maisie. Two totally different names with different pronunciations. I grew up with a Macy and she's great; smart, funny, outgoing, and currently in grad school (med school?) working to become a speech pathologist. It's NMS but a perfectly fine name. I would spell /MAY-see/ Macy and /MAY-zee/ Maisie.

  • Thanks ladies! I agree Maisie makes me thinks of maise.
    Macie is my favorite spelling. But I do agree with PP that I don't know how if it will age well.

  • I know of a girl who spells it Mayce. I personally don't like this spelling, but just throwing out another option in case you were interested!
    Of the spellings you listed out, I like Macie the best.
  • Personally I think Mayce looks like Mace.

    I don't really like Macie, sorry. I will always think of the store, Macy's. If you do choose it, Macy is the only acceptable spelling in my opinion. I think Maci and Macie look made up, and I would pronounce Maisie and Maisy as "Maize-y," not "May-see." I don't think anyone would pronounce it "Mah-see."
