Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Any Potty Training Stories?

No idea what I'm doing here. J is 18+ months - her pedi said at the 18 mo appt that we should start making the potty part of our routine, in the morning and before bedtime, for now. So, right now we just take her to the potty at those times and she just sits (no diaper, usually). She seems interested when I or my husband goes to the bathroom, but I have no idea what other signs of readiness for potty training are.

Is this too soon? We're certainly not forcing it on her, but has anyone else successfully potty trained prior to 24 mos?

Thanks!

We didn't rush and trained DS at 2.5. However, I just wanted to say that just because your pediatrician made that suggestion doesn't mean that it is related to sound medical advice. Some docs feel like their patient's family wants parenting advice as well. Do what feels right for you. I had zero desire to make potty training a six month event so I waited and went from diapers to underpants cold turkey and my son was completely day trained in less than four days.
