smacking & crazy baby!

12 month old DD is getting a little sassy. It started by hating diaper changes & flipping over, running away, kicking & smacking during that time. Now that's turned into smacking & kicking when ever she doesn't like something. Also she's learned to say no & wave her little finger. She really is a sweet baby- idk where its coming from. But mostly how do I stop it??

When you find out, let me know.  DS is 15.5 months and still like this.  He goes through spurts where he's REALLY bad about it for a few days/weeks, then gets better...then gets worse again.  We're in the middle of a bad phase right now.  E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G is a battle.  Diaper change, meals, car seat, a simple "no that's not for baby"...seriously you'd think we're torturing him by how he reacts.  We typically try to ignore for the most part but I really don't know how to stop it!

I don't know if you tried, but with diaper changes we always have books and toys on hand to give our DD so she is immediately distracted. As far as the other times you struggle, if you can ignore the behavior perhaps it will extinguish as she is probably waiting for a reaction from you. 

I know it is hard when every other minute there is a new battle, however, another thing you can try is to could model the behavior you want; use as a teaching moment. So, for example, if she starts smacking telling you she doesn't like something, you can repeat yourself, then model the response for her and try to make a game of it. You might get her to flip a switch if she is tricked into the appropriate response.
