We had our 15 month appointment today and they were not worried that Charlie has nothing more than "that," "this" and has mama and papa sometimes. Because she's babbling and meeting other milestones he said not to worry. It's so different from what some of you other ladies have said your pedi said that I'm kind of dumbfounded. I'm glad he said not to worry on one hand but surprised at the same time. Just crazy.
Even a minor event in
the life of a child is an event of that child's world and thus a world
event.

DD doesn't say clear words yet but communicates with us in her own way and is healthy and active, so I'm not worried. I have heard lots of other moms say that their kids didn't start talking much 'till they were closer to their second birthday.
Pedi did say that most of the kids they see are behind on language. I thought to myself...if most children are "behind" at this age, maybe they need to change the standards, kwim?
Agreed!

That's interesting. G was referred to EI at his 12 month appt because he wasn't saying anything at all (and still isn't). A lot of people that I talked to (on here and irl) thought it was too early to be concerned, but I'm ultimately very glad I followed up on the referral. It is really interesting to me to hear about the differences, though. In a strange way it makes me feel a little better that others wouldn't be concerned, even if my pedi and I are.
