Hi. I've been lurking a little bit, and I wanted to show my face. My husband and I have just started researching adopting through the foster care system. We have a 2.5 year old daughter, and we want to add to our family, but for a few personal reasons, we decided not to TTC. Adoption has been on my heart for about 14 years since I was in my early 20s, and so we begin.
We are putting our current house on the market in February, so I think we'll probably wait to begin the paperwork process until then. There would be no point in doing a home study in our current home since 1. we don't have an extra bedroom and 2. we're moving soon anyway. In the mean time, I'll be lurking around here and checking out some of your book recommendations.
I read the FAQ about positive and respectful adoption language. I will work on getting it down and hope I don't say anything offensive in the meantime
All advice and words of wisdom are welcome.
