I want to work until my water breaks, which hopefully doesn't actually happen at work.
I'm a first-time mom so really have NO idea what to expect as far as how I'll feel once I'm that far along so obviously anything can happen and things can change. I am able to work from home sometimes so I may just take advantage of that at the end.
Until the baby's here! I found it most miserable to work during the first tri. with DD and am finding this one to be the same. If I had enough time to take that off I happily would!
Last time I worked up until my due date, then DS was a week late lol! This time I'm a repeat c-section, tentatatively scheduled for a Monday so hopefully I can work till the Friday before.
I'm a teacher too and for all my pregnancies I worked until the day I delivered. I'd rather have time at the end vs the beginning. Although now that I'm thinking this babe is due in May so it won't take all my sick leave to cover my maternity leave...hmmm maybe I will take some time off before little one arrives!
Last time I had to stop wprking 2 weeks before. I was in so much pain and the floor that I worked on was crazy busy and stressful. I am hoping to work till delivery with this one!
Last time I worked through the Friday before my Monday induction with my son. This time I'm thinking about working at least through Memorial day (a couple days after my due date) which in reality means the Friday, day before my due date. I am seriously considering giving a slightly adjusted due date to work (say the friday after Memorial day)so, I don't have the pressure to stop earlier then I need to. Though maybe since I went a little late last time, they'll be less worried too.
I can't imagine sitting around twiddling my thumbs for too long without the baby. It would do my head in. Well maybe a couple extra mommy and only son days before the new baby arrives might be nice. But I want to soak in as much leave time / nursing time / pumping time as I can before having to go back to work.
I wok retail part time (34.5 hours) just enough to not be full time I am due on the 20 so I plan on quitting around the first week or two of May? Being a ftm I'm not sure when I will need to take off but my job requires 2 week notice, and I want to leave on good terms so I can put boss down if I go back to work after baby. (My goal is to be a stay at home mom, at least until kiddos are in school but bills do need to be paid) I don't NEED to work but it just gives us a little wiggle room for bills and with baby I want to save as much as we can now.
I worked up until the day before labor started with DD. I plan on doing the same this time. I don't want to waste that precious maternity leave waiting for something to happen.
I'm going to approach the subject with my supervisor and the department head around February. Reason being, DH and I have decided I'm going to be taking at least 6 to 12 months off. I have not told them this yet. I do criminal research and have specific training that would need to be taught to someone else, and it isn't something you can just pick up and run with. It'll give them appropriate time to find a suitable replacement and to have me train them. If they are okay with it, I'm happy to work until the end of April for my May 4th due date.
I plan to work til the dr says I can't anymore. I had preclampsya the first tine around 10 years ago. Was on bedrest for a week and had energency cesarean at 34 weeks. Dr is hoping I make it past then this time. Well just have to see. I work in retail. I'm a merchandosinh lead at macys so well juat have to see. I have short and long term disability so that's the only way I gst paid maternity leave.
I am going to work as long as possible. This is the first time I am preg. & still working. (With my DS's, I lost my job early on). It depends on what the baby needs. I had Pre E with both my boys so...
Last time, I went late and had an induction scheduled on a Sunday, and worked until the Friday immediately before that Sunday. (I went into labor on my own 18 hrs before the induction was scheduled, for which I am thankful.) If I have no complications again this time, I'll work until I go into labor of have an induction scheduled again. I was joking last time with my husband about going into labor at work and riding the employee shuttle down to the other hospital where they deliver the babies.
I'm a teacher and we aren't allowed to use days before we actually have the baby. It kind of sucks since I have been saving up days but am due 6 days before school gets out.
I don't know how I will work 10 hour days on my feet with a giant basketball but we'll see!
I think that is horrible that you can't use YOUR sick time before the baby is born! I don't have much sick time accrued in my current district, but I will use what I can before my due date then rely on FMLA.
Re: How long do you plan to work before EDD?
