On lovenox now, switching to heparin in 3 weeks.

On heparin now for next six weeks. Getting better at self administering the shots but they still suck!

Have any of you had issues while on blood thinners? Today is my 2nd day on it. I am embarrassed to admit it, but I am a little scared.

I am on Lovenox now, but took Heparin the last few weeks of my pregnancy with DS.  I haven't had any problems from them before.

My Dr has me only on heparin. Do any of you know why your Dr chose Lovenox first over heparin? I am trying to make sure I have made the best decision. Were you all on blood thinners for your entire pregnancy or just a little while? They want me on it until delivery. @samm1983, @Lzyrhu, @Mac2588 anything you can offer I would very much appreciate!!

I'm on heparin 2x daily for MTHFR gene mutation. I haven't had any problems with it, and I've been on it since 10wks (I'm 25w4d now). I'll be on it until I deliver, then again for ~6wks after baby is here.

I've been on lovenox for the 2 miscarriages I had and also this pregnancy, my OB said I would be on it up until a few weeks before delivery and then I would switch to heparin I think. I haven't had any problems.

Thank you all for replying!! Do any of you know why they chose Lovenox first and then heparin? They just put me on heparin until delivery.

At medic99. They do lovenox first because its safer to be on it long term. But lovenox is more expensive and some insurances Do not cover it or ppl may have an allergy to it so their dr puts them on heparin. Being on heparin long term can cause HIT (heparin induced thtombocytopenia). So they watch u closely. But once close to delivery or if your at risk to deliver early a dr will switch someone from heparin to lovenox. I am on lovenox. And that is what my dr explained to me. The insurance part I read from ppl on here
