Convertible carseat recs?

We currently have DS in a Britax Marathon 70-G3, which fits beautifully in my Chevy equinox, bit we have yet to find a carseat to install in DH's Toyota Corolla.

Honestly, its a rare occasion that DS will be riding in that car, since I'm the one home with him during the day/week, and whenever we go places as a family, we usually just take my Equinox.

Does anyone have any recs for a good convertible carseat that will fit in a smaller vehicle and is also cost effective? For the handful of times DS rides in DH's car, we don't want to spend a fortune, but I also want something reliabe and safe.

@Fredalina I know you're the resident carseat guru. Any recs? TIA guys!

  • We just got a Graco My Ride 65, it's a really nice seat an I got it on sale. It's on the large side but it fits RF in my parents Jetta which would be comparable to a Corolla.

  • @loveactually4 thanks! That's actually one of the seats I was just looking at. Like I said, I love my Britax, but the small amount of time he'll actually be in DH's car, we wanted something a little cheaper.

  • @meganrod13, I agree the Chicco Nextfit os a nice seat. It was between that one and the Britax for my car. I ended up going for the Britax mostly bc of price. The chicco os definitely on the pricey side.

  • I put a Graco MyRide in my old Corolla with no issue. Would have fit better in the middle but I have 2 kids so it was behind the passenger, so that seat was pretty up, but I could sit there just fine.

    Really most seats will fit.
  • DH has an Evenflo Sure Ride DLX in his BMW (there is very little legroom in the car to begin with; add in DH at 6'6" and me at 6' and there is literally no backseat). It fits nicely in the small space and it's around $100.
