  • I'm so sad Amelia is on the list! It's my baby girls name!

  • This list made me so mad. The Hubby and I picked the name Owen 2 years ago because we loved the name and it wasn't on the top ten list. Now when Owen is on the way the name breaks the top 10.

Oh well. I picked the name first.

Thank goodness this is just a nameberry thing- or I'd be upset because BOTH of our girl names are on here...haha. Not that it really matters, considering I'm an Ashley and it's really no big deal to have a popular name.
I'm also an Ashleigh.  Most of my life it wasn't too bad.  There were two others Ashley's in my ballet class though - got confusing sometimes.

  • I also love the name Imogen!  But clearly there aren't many of us who do.

Also, I hate HATE unisex names.  And last names used as first names. :)

  • Also, why are people sad that their name picks are possibly popular?  I know everyone wants a special snowflake with a yooneek name, but most of these names aren't out there, and it's pretty likely you may encounter someone else with your child's name.  To me, you know that he/she has cool parents with a similar naming style.  I think people way overthink this.

  • Makes so much more sense that these are names people have searched rather than chosen!  I was wondering if it was a British list at first - I have a couple of friends in the UK named Imogen (Immy or Immie for short) so that made some sense.

I'm just as happy this isn't a true list of popular names, though -- we're thinking about Finley for our little guy's middle name and I would love for it to remain a little rare.

Someone else may have said this, but I think those are the most SEARCHED names this year, not necessarily the most used names.

Yup, someone already said this, sorry for the repeat!

  • OK, I was wondering the source as well. The SS name list is a better measure since it's actually what goes on birth certificates, not what people are searching for on name websites. Why's everybody looking up Imogen?! Weird.

  • Have you ladies never seen Down To You? With Freddie Prince Jr and Julia Stiles?! Julia Stiles plays a girl named Imogen. First time I heard that name... In the late 90's...

  • Also if you want the current top ten names from 2012, you need to go to SSA website. As others said, these names aren't top 10.

Also, no name will ever be as popular as Jennifer. There are just TOO MANY names being used now to ever reach the same popularity.
