New - Intro and ? about Low T

Hi all,
I am just beginning the infertility journey myself. My husband and I have 2 beautiful girls, ages 4 and 2 and have been trying for 14 cycles for child number 3. Both girls were conceived naturally and we thought our family was complete. However, we decided that we would like to try for a couple more now that things with my husband's career is pretty well established. I've talked with my OB who referred me to an RE here in Denver and I'm in the process of getting an appointment. My OB seems to think that somehow my fertility was messed up after being on Implanon for a year. My DH was also diagnosed with Low T in the middle of September and has been on treatment for it since then but his levels are not going up as quickly as his doctor would like. So I guess mix the two problems together, gets us to where we are today.

If anyone has any suggestions of questions to ask the RE and first steps to take I would appreciate it. This is all so new and confusing and already frustrating.
Thanks for reading and I look forward to getting to know you ladies!

  • Welcome. Sorry you have to join us here.

I don't remember really asking much of anything at the first appt. Those first appts. are just for testing, and then to discuss testing and treatments in the future, etc. Once you get into discussing treatments then you'd want more information to decide what's going to work for you and your family. But as far as questions go, you want to know what is causing the issue, and that's pretty much what all the testing is for, you know? It sounds like you have some ideas already, so that's a good start.

    Good luck!

Hi Sorry you have to be here as well, but Welcome.  This is a great bunch!
What RE clinic are you going to in Denver?

Usually your first visit is them asking you questions, and getting you set up with blood work and testing.

I second this, and welcome!! :)
  • My hubs was treated for low T as well and was on Androgel for a while. It's pretty common to treat low T with. When we went to the RE he flipped! "That kills your sperm!!!" RE said prolonged use will kill sperm. (Androgel's website states this is a side effect). So my hubs stopped immediately. The RE did a semen analysis and well, it's not him, it's me.

So, make sure 1) he's not on androgel and 2) disclose that to your RE.

    I wish you luck!
