Intense teething

My DD got her first two teeth at 3.5 months. After that we had quite the break. Then, a month ago, when she was 6.5 months she got her two top teeth followed by the lower incisions and now upper incisors (in the span of one month--- fun times). As if that wasn't bad enough, she is seriously chewing her hand like crazy and I can feel a bump where her molar would be! She is not enjoying nursing and waking after half hour stretches of sleep crying in pain. It seems crazy to me that she is getting so many teeth so soon. Anyone else going through the teething hell?

Re: Intense teething

  • Wow that is crazy.  Mine has none...sorry no help.

  • Poor baby and poor mama! That is a lot of teeth to get in a short time, hope they come in quick!
  • Yikes, that does sound rough!  But maybe it will be nice to get a bunch of them out of the way instead of dragging out the teething time (just trying to look at the bright side for you:) )

Mine seems to have been teething for like 2 months now, but we have yet to have one come through.  I think we are going to be in the dragging on forever boat...

  • My friend's DS is 9 months and has 8 teeth.  I think by 7 months he had 5.  Poor baby.  Mine still doesn't have any, but I think some are on the way as he has been really upset lately.

  • Yes! I want to roll in a ball and die! My girls are both getting teeth at the same time and I can barely contain myself.
They both had two at 4 months and JUST THIS WEEK, Halle has 5 popping through and Isla has 2!

You poor mama! I feel your pain, can't imagine having two going through this at the same time!
  • We're kinda there. 4.5 months we had bottom two, got a 2 month break, then for the past 2 weeks she' popped her top two incisors, her bottom two have just broken through and her top upper two teeth are like a week away....poor grumpy fussy baby.

i just figure..at least it's getting out of the way?

  • DS got his bottom two right at 3 months- pretty early. But nothing else since... Until the past few weeks where he's maniacally gnawing on EVERYTHING. I am hoping he doesn't get a mouthful all at once. My friend said her son got his entire mouth all at once around his 1st birthday- eeeek!! She said she just kept giving him teething tablets, one after another.... I cannot wait til this teething thing is over and done with! :)

  • My DD got the bottom 2 at 5months only a couple of days apart.  I just noticed yesterday I cut one of her top teeth but it isn't one of the front 2.  It is next to the front teeth.

  • DS just had his first tooth break through tonight (he will be 8 months on Tuesday).  I wondered why he was crying for no reason and drooling like crazy.  I thought both were due to the cold he is getting over.

I recently bought a Baltic amber teething necklace for him.  Friends of mine swear by theirs.  As soon as I felt the tooth poking through I put the necklace on him.  I hope it helps.

Do teething tablets just help with drool or do they do something else as well?

  • The teething tablets help with the pain and irritation- I don't know if they help with drool (or how they would). They're homeopathic, so they're non-medicated. We tried them with DS- they didn't seem to do much, and he would spit them out, or they'd get carried out in the continuous drool waterfall...
DS just cut his top left tooth two days ago. It seems to be coming in fast! I hope the top right isn't far behind.
