Loud baby

I have a question... I know I'm probably being a neurotic first time mom...but Maggie (12 days old) is so loud during feedings (bf) and just before she falls asleep.  It sounds as if she is congested, but no runny nose or cough.  Is quiet once she falls asleep.  Anyone else have very loud newborns?

Newborns really are very noisy. Does she spit up a lot or cry and arch her back after feeding? E sounded really congested a lot, and it turned out it was milk refluxing up into her throat and nose. Not trying to scare you, just my experience. (It was no big deal, Zantac till 4 months, totally fine now.)

She doesn't spit up much at all.. only occasionally.  No back arching or excessive crying. Thanks for the tips though should it turn out to be reflux!

Like OPs said. They are just so loud. I remember trying to sleep at night was horrible. I didn't know how something so tiny was so loud in their sleep!? But I slept fine once ds was in his own room. Those little bodies make a LOT of noise

Great, that does not sound like reflux then. Just normal noisy baby. Once I had a baby I never understood the phrase sleeping like a baby.

Newborns are so loud- especially if they are a bit early. A friend's husband actually pushed the baby's RnP into the hallway so he could sleep!

DS1 also always seemed congested, so I hear you on that one. It resolved, but I was always asking the pedi on that one. He was just a crusty little baby!

Did you have a csection? I read somewhere after having the boys that it is normal for csection babies to be a little more congested because all the fluid didn't get squeezed out at birth. It did clear up. I don't know where I read it and how accurate it is, but it makes sense to me.

My kid is super loud. Even at the hospital, he was always the first kid wheeled out in the morning and he was dubbed "the squeaky wheel" by the nurses because he was loud! There was a point that he would scream at the breast before bed every night when he was you LOs age. His noises were memorable. It's normal!
