@joy2611 I also LOVE carpeting! We have "gorgeous" hard wood in our living, dining, kitchen, and we have covered as much as possible with carpet. We went to Home Depot and had a piece cut and bond the same size as our living room so it looks like wall to wall carpet. So much cozier!
TTC #2 since 8/2012 Me:28 H:34 Me: all tests normal! H: Azoospermia (Sperm count zero). MFI Urologist all test normal. Biopsy Feb. 14
I hate carpeting and I would be hurt if we weren't invited to our friends' kid's birthday parties because we are a childless couple. What a slap in the face that would be.
Also, I like holding babies. Any baby, I don't care. Gimme!
I seriously judge grown adults who play video games or call themselves gamers.
I get it some people like video games. I completely understand playing with kids, nephews, nieces etc on occasion. Grown men who spend all night playing call of duty or whatever, I side eye.
I side eye my own DH for this! Though he only plays for an hour or so a night. Then he told me it's the same as me going on Pinterest, hmmmmm.
I have no UO today. I dislike getting out of bed when it's cold and rainy to get ready for work. Is that one?
I don't think anyone should invite childless friends to their kids birthday parties unless they are a godparent. Let's be honest, those friends do not want to be there.
Also, as much as I love babies and desperately want my own child, I do not care to hold anyone else's baby unless they're immediate family. I absolutely hate when babies are forced on me!
The friends I am close to invite me to all of their children's parties. I love going to them. I spend most of the party rolling around with their kids in the grass & dirt. I adore their children, their children love me. I would be really hurt if they stopped inviting me just because I don't have children. These friends also know what has been going on for us, so they completely understand when I decide to skip an event. But they let me make that decision.
Also, I fucking HATE carpet!
ETA: I also love holding babies most of the time. Gimmie all the babies! I like having that reminder of why we're doing all this shit. I also love the way my husband looks at me when I'm holding a baby. Even more, I love seeing him hold a baby.
I think it's creepy when a living artist releases a song with a dead artist. (for example the Chris Brown and Aaliyah song that's out right now). Obviously her part was recorded before she died and was unreleased, but I still think it's creepy as fuck.
I'm not against the look of carpet, just the maitenance. Current home has almost all hardwood and I love it because we can easily move furniture around to sweep and easily clean up spills. (and how do I get this un-highlighted! lol)
@ozma23: I totally agree with you about the gym! I don't consider myself a skinny girl, but exercising isn't just about weight, it's also about being healthy!
@joy2611 I totally disagree with you on carpet. However, if you're looking to unload that clawfoot tub, I might be interested & I think we live pretty close together

As as 'friend without a kid' it really hurts when you are not invited to events anymore since I am childless. There are many of my 'friends' that I have not seen in years because of this exact reason...I think it is more appropriate to send an invite and let your childless friend decide if they want to attend your party/event/gtg.
Please make note on the invitation if alcohol will be served.
I actually like it when people call me sugar or honey or darlin.
(Unless it's in a condescending way, like "oh sweetie, no")
I much prefer unprofessional terms of endearment over "mam".

I guess DH and I are one of those kinds of people then. We typically play our video games for hours on the weekends. It's our way of vegging out. The way we see it, it's no different than watching hours of crappy TV like reality shows and whatnot.
ETA: I can't get with the carpet movement. I have hardwood floors with area rugs. The area rugs get so gross with 2 cats and I'm cleaning them almost everyday. I'm almost tempted to throw them out too.
I am a gamer, wish I could highlight my hair blue, hate carpeting, love kid's birthday parties, and have a whirlpool tub and one of those full body shower panels in my bathroom. I'm batting 1000 today!

We're those kind of people too. Last night DH played 4 hours of GTA 5 and I Sim'd like no one's business. Sometimes we even play together.
I think we are going to have to run away together. ">
I agree. Although for me it doesn't have the same sort of magic until November.
Same. Someone on my FB mentioned watching Christmas movies already and I just can't do it yet. I love everything Christmas, but not this soon.
Christmas Vacation is my one exception to this. I can watch that anytime. :-)

Cheeburger Cheeburger near us was BLARING Christmas music in September. I kid you not. WAY too early. I like Christmas music, but only Thanksgiving through New Years. After that, turn it off, please.

I agree with this.
However, I don't care for babies in general. I give zero fucks about the "cute" baby at Starbucks or at the table next to me. It's still a complete stranger even if it's a baby.

Please make a list of what hobbies are appropriate for adults since you seem to think everyone should have only certain interests.
I also side-eye grown up "gamers".... Grow UP! I can think of soo many other productive things that should be getting done, as an adult.
You are on a computer being non-productive. How is that any different?
I guess I should clarify..I consider a "gamer" as someone who spends a great part of their free time..1 hour + playing video games. I get that it is a stress reliever/hobby...but some take it to a whole other level. Those, are who I side eye.
I'm being non-productive for a couple of minutes. To check e-mails and catch up. In 15 minutes...I'll be back to working... there's a difference.
Do you ever watch TV? For 1 hour+ ? How is that even remotely different than gaming?
@darcyhermione@macylynn27@teej526 I am so sad I'm on mobile and can't join in the gamer gif lovefest. I mean, it took me forever just to tag you guys. But...me too? :x

I would be really hurt if my friends didn't invite us to their kids' parties bc we don't have kids. I love getting them presents and watching their little faces light up.
My husband and I love playing COD. It's something we both enjoy so I don't see the problem. The only reason it wouldn't be ok is if it interfered with our lives but it's really just a winter
I'm also in agreement with spanking. I was spanked as a child and I see nothing wrong with it. There is a huge difference between a swat on the behind for doing something bad and straight up beating your child. The only instance I don't agree with it is if the child is getting in trouble for hitting someone else. It doesn't make much sense to punish hitting with hitting. That being said, I would employ other punishments before spanking (time outs, extra chores, grounding). Andplusalso, I'm ok with ppl not agreeing with me on this. You raise your children your way and I'll raise my children my way.
Ohhh boy. The topic of corporal punishment is touchy. I have mixed feelings about it. Growing up my sister and I were hit a lot and it was used as a way to embarrass ad demean us, especially when my dad did it in front of my friends or his friends. A lot of times if he was having a bad day at work my sister and I would get a slap in the face or kick in the gut because we were "in his way" or "being too loud". That's abuse and to this day when I see a child being hit I get teary eyed. I just feel like at 5 I don't know what I did that was so awful to get a black eye or in my sisters case a fat lip. The thought of bringing pain to my children because we're in the way (aka being children) sickens me.
I think my sister and I were taught to hit when we get mad and that scares crap out of me and know I must be extra conscious of that when I have children so I don't make the same mistakes. Spanking can be a real slippery slope and should handled with extreme caution. ETA: words. Mobile blows
@triumphgrrrl@byegurlbye@ladyale , I'm sorry you all went through that. I was also spanked. My dad made a special paddle for me (wooden paddle with holes drilled in it so it would "sting more", in his words) & there was a chart on the wall of things I could so wrong & how many smacks that earned me. While I don't have any physical scars, it definitely did some serious emotional damage.
