Having 2nd thoughts on Waiting to TTC....Advice?

DF and I were planning on waiting until after our March wedding to start TTC and hoping that we would make a December EDD. Buttttt....I've been lurking and seeing that so many ladies have taken months to conceive and I'm wondering if we should start a little earlier. BTW I have PCOS and will probably have some issues conceiving, although I have experimented with Maca Root and Vitex supplements and was able to induce ovulation naturally. We would really love a 2014 baby....what do you ladies think?? I would just like to have some other opinions and experiences to think about while we make this decision. Thank you :)

  • I would wait. I would not want to be pregnant and potentially feeling like crap on my wedding day. 4 out of 5 times I have gotten pregnant the first cycle we tried, but what my body does means nothing about what your body will do.

  • Thank you ladies...DF mentioned the drinking thing..I'm not really a big drinker though, but I definitely understand the feeling like crap part, I wouldn't want that. Bugandbibs, do you have PCOS?
  • I would wait.  Enjoy the wedding and everything that goes along with it.  Then you can worry about baby-makin!

    :o)
  • I would wait to be closer to the wedding date at least, but use this time in between to get to know your body.  Start temping, sign up with fertility friend, and chart, so that when you do start TTC, you have a better chance of getting your timing right.  If anything, maybe start the cycle before the big day, though I'd probably wait for the honeymoon.
  • Thank you all! Jnnfrrose6 we have decided to move our TTC date up to January, I will start getting my body ready now. I won't get too caught up in tracking my ovulation times, we'll just continue on as normal only without BC. I think that will give us pretty good chances to conceive right around the wedding. If my cycle continues the way it is now I will O right before and right after the wedding and could end up with a December baby (3rd or 29th).
  • Oh gosh! We will definitely use a back up method until January. Thank you for the info!!
  • My GYN knows I take Maca and Vitex. Is there something wrong with those supplements? Everything I've read shows that they are good for balancing hormones and over all good for the endocrine system.
  • This sounds like me! My wedding was August 4th, 2012, and my husband and I decided to start trying in July of 2012, because "nobody gets so lucky to get pregnant the first try." Well, I was 4 weeks pregnant on my wedding. I didn't miss drinking, but I did feel a little of the morning sickness. I ended up being sick the last few days of our honeymoon. So much so, that I was throwing up. My advice is to wait til after the wedding, but if you decide not to.....we both agree that our little girl, was worth the sickness of the honeymoon. We will redo it one day :)

  • Aww so sweet! We have decided as of last night to "elope" and to have a private ceremony with our immediate family. Wedding planning just became such a chore I wasn't even looking forward to it. The only thing I wanted out of it was the wedding photos and we'll get those still since I already bought my wedding dress.so we'll be married before we start trying, thank you for the advice :-)
  • An imbalance of hormones is a part of PCOS so I believe those supplements would balance them out in my case. I ovulated on my second cycle of taking maca and vitex, which is a typical time frame (2-3 months) for a supplement to affect the body. Honestly it's worth a try in my opinion, I'd prefer to try natural methods before I move onto chemical methods of getting pregnant.
