Cerclage with twins?

The MFM mentioned possibly needing a cerclage last week, and has placed me on Progesterone suppositories to see if that helps at all.  I go back tomorrow and I just want to know if anyone here has had experience with a cerclage?  Everything online says there is no medical reason for it with twins - it hasn't proven beneficial.  I just want to be prepared going into our appointment tomorrow if it gets brought up.  Ultimately, I have to trust him - just looking for outsiders experiences.  Are the risks worth it?  Bed rest seems to be pretty effective on its own...
1st FET 2/14/2013 Happy Valentines Day! - BFN
2nd FET 6/14/2013 - BPF!!! -
1st Beta: 1046!!!!! - 2nd Beta: 2754!!!!!
First u/s 7/11/2013 - TWINS!!! 120 and 124 heartbeats <3
Second u/s 7/29/2013 - wiggley babies! 178 and 184 heartbeats!
Third u/s 9/9/2013 - 157 and 161 heartbeats ... a BOY and a GIRL!!!! Cervix on the "shorter side" (3-3.3) - going to check again in 2 weeks.
Fourth u/s 9/23/2013 - Baby A = 157 Baby B = 150 heartbeat. Cervix now 2.3-2.6 ... being referred to a MFM
MFM Appointment 9/26/2013 = Both babies healthy, cervix now measuring at 4 - Playing tricks on me ... will follow up in 2 weeks.
Cervical check 10/7 with regular OB - 2.1cm  --- going BACK to the MFM armed with ultrasound pictures from my OB of my cervix. *sigh*
MFM Appointment 10/8 - confirmed my cervix at 2.1cm - putting me on Progesterone for a week.
MFM Appointment 10/17 - Cervix unchanged! Keeping me on Progesterone - followup 10/29

    I have no experience, but my OB has already told me he probably wouldn't do a cerclage due to research not showing it to be effective for multiples. He did mention a pessary in combination with progesterone if the need arises. Best of luck!

    @rcnavywife - where are you located? I've read not many Drs in the US do pessarys (pessaries?) yet.

    I had an emergency cerclage put in at 21 weeks due to ptl and shortened cervix combined with bed rest. I can't speak to having one put in for preventive measures, but I was willing to take any and all risks to keep my babies cooking longer. We delivered at 33w4d and I do believe it helped to some degree with the help of bed rest.

    I had a cerclage put in at about 21 weeks due to funneling (when the cervix starts to open from the inside).  I was feeling extreeeeme pressure and something felt off so I asked my ob to do a vaginal ultrasound and sure enough, it caught the funneling.  I think that it had a lot (along with bedrest) to do with my twins being born at 35 weeks and 1 day.  good luck with everything!  it's not bad at all...and like pp said, anything to keep those babies inside!

    I'm worried about rupturing the membrane and losing them, if bed rest would have been enough :\

    My drs wouldn't do cerclage. I wish they would have, but said it increased risk of infection for twins and wasn't shown to be that effective. I delivered @ 27w after 7 weeks if bed rest (5 at home and 2 in hospital). My babies are ok, but we are in NICU for a while.
