Transitioning to crib..HELP

DD is 7 weeks old and has been sleeping in the Rock N Play by our bed since she came home.  She has started to sleep 5.5 hour stretches at night (thank God) and then is up to eat and back down for 3 hours.  I am thinking it's time to move her to her own room and crib.  I attempted to have her nap in her crib the past 3 days and it is a big fail, so she ends up doing her long nap in the swing.  Any tips on how you got you LO to her own room and crib?

Re: Transitioning to crib..HELP

  • I would love some advice on this as well. Trying to get my DS use to his crib. Even if I lay him down asleep he wakes up I within 5 min.

  • I bought a vibrating insert to go under the mattress cushion to see how DD will like it. I want to test it out for a nap sometime soon because she is also in the RnP and she is 10 weeks. I'm not looking forward to the transition!
  • swaddling DS helps. We are only successful some of the time though.

  • My DS has slept in his crib since day one but swaddling for him is the key. Then it's not like he's in such a big place.
  • My son is currently 2 weeks old and he sleeps in a bassinet next to me and my husband's bed. Have you tried maybe putting bassinet in his or her room to try to familiarize him or her to the room? After that, maybe you can try putting the bassinet in the actual crib, if it fits.

  • My daughter has slept in the crib since day 1.  We swaddle her every night and recently bought the cloud B sleep sheep and use the heartbeat sound----sleep has been much better since using the sleep sheep.  I would recommend it!
