I guess I don't *really* NIP. I wear my cover all the time. Why? Because it's fucking cold. I'm actually loving my cover because I'm always freezing. I never had a cover with DS1, just used A&A blankets.

I usually pump before going anywhere so I don't nurse on the go that much. My toddler isn't great about staying next to me in public places yet...so to expect him to sit quietly while I nurse just isn't practical for me right now.

So excited to report: were traveling this weekend and I ended up nursing in the parking lot of a Starbucks, in tandem with a mom in a car next to mine; she nursing her daughter.

Also nursed in a rest stop parking lot while there was a lawn crew working. A guy on a mower kept cruising by my car; he clearly enjoyed the view.

I'm not a shy person, but was quite nervous bf in public to begin with. This thread helped me to not give a f**k. Well done to all you ladies and keep up the good work. I say what harm is this thread if it gives some support and encouragement to other women.

Im gonna go out on a limb and say I dont think @Roostermemphis meant her comment as an attack. I think she was literally asking "what is the point of this thread" as in "what do you all get out of it". I dont think she meant it like "you all are stupid for talking about NIP"  From what I remember she is BF and I think her train of thought was more "dont feel bad or strange about NIP, you're feeding your baby"  but that's just me...

Due to oversupply issues I haven't yet gotten out the pump. That means DD2 comes to practice with me and this past Saturday, to my meet. When she got hungry I sat down- with my cover- to feed her. Someone walked by and commented "oh, you just whip those out anywhere, huh?" 

I think that's why this thread exists. To help give people who wouldn't otherwise have the guts to respond with "I do as she commands" some confidence to give NIP a shot. My attitude this time around is very much "whatever" but I didn't feel the same in the beginning with DD. Hell, I didn't feel it toward the end of BFing DD- people think BFing a 3 year old is fucking weird. Basically, It's helpful to know you're not alone when you're nervous about something.

Also I don't think any women on this thread would let their babies go hungry because of the fear of NIP. But for me, for several weeks I was afraid to actually go anywhere incase I had to nip. One Wednesday I stumbled on this thread ...

I personally am not comfortable NIP. I will do it in my car, dressing rooms, etc but I am very shy and have bad anxiety and couldn't do it in public. I wish I was comfortable enough to do it but I'm not.

That being said, as someone who is to nervous to NIP, I don't find this thread helpful and understand the simple question that was asked by @roostermemphis. I think it's great for those of you are working up the courage to NIP, but knowing a complete internet stranger whipped their boob out does nothing for me. It's my body my breasts and I'm going to be nervous regardless of what someone else does.

Her question asked how this thread helps you. You don't often see someone suggesting ways to overcome their NIP worries. It's simply stating where you nursed. Knowing you nursed in a Starbucks parking lot doesn't make me think wow I'm going to go nurse in the park now.

I should have been more empathetic in my original response. Ladies, forgive my insensitivety. While I don't relate to what you've expressed, it is important to have an understanding group of people. For me, it's difficult for me to hear women having a hard time feeling comfortable doing the most natural thing our bodies were made to do, in public (even though I know it exists). And my approach to a solution is probably way to aggressive. That's all. Even though I don't share the same insecurity, I definitely have my own share that you might not relate to. I will remember that when these threads come along. I do know that talking about it is the first step in dealing. I know I'm glad TB exists for that sort of thing. Please, carry on ladies. X

I have a weird internet stalking situation going on. Someone has gotten some information about me and my girls including pics and stuff and has reposted them on sites I don't use. It kind of creeped me out so I decided to take what I can down just until I get a handle on WTF is going.

For the record - I don't think it was someone from thebump, (I suspect I know this person IRL as well, which is even creepier,) but it was just another place and if it was through another forum they could track this account down pretty easily. I deleted a ton of info from other forums I use semi-regularly.

We had our reunion class from our childbirth classes last night...all the couples and babies came to talk to the current class. Anyway DD is usually asleep by 7:30 or 8 and this didn't start til 7:45... Needless to say, she was getting pretty cranky...so as all of us parents were sitting in a lineup in front of the parents to be, I put my cover on and whipped it out. Felt awesome!! It was the most public place I've done it...preemie DD is getting much stronger where I do not have to support her and my big boobs as much, so I have a new confidence! Yay!

Like some others, I find this thread encouraging to me. I haven't NIP uncovered, but hopefully will get there! But then, I cover at home too, depending on who's around.... I have a 15 yr old (step) son, and honestly I'm not sure if it's a good idea to whip out my boobs in front of him. I'd rather be a bit modest about it. Don't want to make him uncomfortable. I mostly just use a burping cloth to block the direction he's sitting on the couch. I will always feed my son whenever/wherever he needs, but this is new to me, and it honestly makes me nervous when I do it in public..

This week, I nursed in the car, drs. office parking lot, had him in his ring sling nursing at my husband's appt and then in the lab waiting for my husband to get bloodwork.
