Sorry if this already been discussed. I've been MIA .since being furloughed (dd has been keeping me busy!)

Anyway I wasn't planning on carving pumkpins this year. But we are still going to the pumpkin patch to get pumpkins.

I got a pie pumpkin at the grocery store that I planned to cube and cook for finger food for dd. I'll freeze the rest to thaw out for other meals.

But I was wondering two things.

First does anyone know a way to cook the seeds in a way that's safe for our LOs to eat? I don't think it would be safe but maybe there is a cooking method that could work?

And second, has amyone let their LOs play with the pumpkin "guts" yet. I thought it might be a fun tactile activity. But I'm not sure what I'm getting myself into! Lol!

H LOVES pumpkin. He happily eats puréed pumpkin by the handfuls!

Yeh. DD loves puree pumpkin (canned). She also likes sweet potato and butternut squash. My grocery store sells those precut in cubes in a big container. So I cook in bulk and freeze the extra. So I was hoping to do the same with this pumpkin I bought.

I'll have to gogle recipes to see if I can make a nut butter with thw seeds!

OMG, I never even thought about letting DS play in the pumpkin guts!  I am so excited, he is going to love it.

Just the other day we gave her a handful of "guts" and she carried it around awhile playing/looking at it. We didn't give her a bunch though. Just enough to test it
