Jogging stroller for everyday?

Hey STMs, is there a good, portable lightweight jogging stroller that can be used for everyday as well as with a car seat? I really dont want to have to purchase 3 different types of strollers for money reasons (travel system for infant car seat, jogger, and light weight umbrella type). My insurance will partially reimburse us for a jogger (it cant say travel system though, but it is ok if it works with a car seat), so I have been looking for one that I can jog with and use for everyday and with an infant car seat. I really liked the baby trend jogger for its light weight and manueverability but it only works with Baby Trend carseat, which I have heard is only an OK carseat. All the other joggers I looked at in stores that worked with better carseats were too bulky / heavy for everyday use. Does anyone know of one that fits what Im looking for, or do I have to just suck it up and buy multiple strollers?

  • I have the Graco Fast Action Fold Click Connect Jogger.  I've used it for jogging and for just strolling around the mall and it's a great stroller.  Easy to maneuver, easy one-hand fold, and pretty light weight.  It only works with Graco car seats though.

    @WookieesCookies

OP is looking for a lightweight jogging stroller, the City Mini isn't a jogger. The CM does rock though.

  • Then why is it called the city mini jogger?

  • It's not, it's name is just City Mini but it is made by Baby Jogger. Baby Jogger makes a lot of strollers, most of which aren't actually jogging strollers. That's probably what caused your confusion.

  • True jogging strollers, with the proper suspension and handling, won't really fit your "portable lightweight" criteria. That said, I have a few serious running friends who use their Bob Revolution strollers as everyday strollers. Yes, it's bigger and heavier than other options out there, but if you really only want one stroller that can do it all, that's the one I would recommend.

If you do a lot of traveling or are in tight, city spaces often, you can always get a second, inexpensive umbrella stroller.

  • The bob strollers are amazing for jogging and everyday!!!!
  • I really wouldn't do a jogger for everyday. They are big and bulky. Aisles in the mall aren't made for them. They are annoying in crowds.

This is the one we got.  I've tested it around the house and it seems ok.  It is really easy to fold and unfold and doesn't seem too heavy.  We will probably get a cheap umbrella stroller also.

    it's quite misleading, really.

This is our plan... although it doesn't really fit lightweight or inexpensive.

  • True joggers have a fixed front wheel. There are strollers that have a wheel that can be locked and unlocked, but it doesn't work as well and it isn't as stable. They tend to have smaller wheels and shake a bit as you run. If you're not running as far it might be okay.

A true jogging stroller should have wheels that are 16 inches at a minimum. I'm not a fast runner and that's still small for me. I love my dedicated jogging stroller. It's super light weight, a fixed front wheel, and those wheels are 20 inches. You need to push the handle down to lift the front wheel to turn. I can run four miles with it easily and not tire, but with a 14 or 16 inch stroller or one with a "lockable" wheel... I'm wiped after a mile. You wouldn't want to take it to a store due to the wide turning radius.

I'd say if you're serious about running you should get a jogging stroller and then a second lightweight and small folding stroller that works with a car seat for your main stroller.

Below are examples of a true jogging stroller with a permanently fixed wheel and one that has a "locking" wheel. The blue is the true jogger.

  • I use my BOB everyday, it's super easy to store and pack in my trunk, and it maneouvers super easy. It's a bit bulky but for the amount of times I use it in a mall or something, it's just fine

And you can purchase a bar that allows them to hold the infant carrier so you can use it from day one.

  • I love my BOB stroller, and I use it everyday, but I wouldn't want it to be my only stroller.  I loved how light and easy to open the Chicco KeyFit Caddy was for when DD was tiny, and now we have a lightweight umbrella stroller for the car/mall.

Sorry to bump up this thread but thank you for the info! I just looked and this is pretty much exactly what we want. MIL told us last night that she and FIL will be buying our stroller and carseat for us and we just have to pick what we want. Very generous. And Graco is a great brand, plus I love that tangerine color :-)
    Your welcome :)

I have not typically been a fan of most Graco Strollers.  The first stroller I ever owned was a Graco Travel System and it was ok, but not great.  I came across this jogger when I was looking for a jogger and I have to say Graco has made a lot of improvements on some of their strollers.  It is a really great stroller.  It does come in Teal too but I love the tangerine.

  • Thanks ladies for all the great insight and info! Now I just have to get to the store and try out the Graco Fast Action and BOB in person, so I can decide between the two. I didn't realize the BOB had a frame you can attach for an infant car seat, that is good to know. I still would really like to limit the number of strollers I have to purchase if at all possible, so hopefully one of those would work better for me.  :)
