A year after ear tubes, complaining about loud noises

DS had his ear tubes put in almost a year ago.  In the last month he has started to complain about noises being loud.  These aren't noises that I would consider loud, and he has never complained about them before. He covers his ears and says "it's too loud mom".  He doesn't cry, just says this and covers his ears. These could be noises like a rumbling truck driving by when we're in the car, or the radio (even when I have it on quiet).  I'm not sure if it's just a phase, or if it could be related to his tubes? He's likely due for a follow up with the ENT anyhow, but I thought I'd see what other parents have experienced.

Re: A year after ear tubes, complaining about loud noises

  • DD1 does this from time to time. Her tubes were placed well over 2 years ago, and have been out for over a year. I hadn't really considered it being related to the tubes, honestly. I just figured some people have days where they are more sensitive to sounds - a headache, just tired, whatever - so a child could, too.
