3rd Trimester

Eggplant parm to induce labor

Attn mommy's who are past their due date!! So I went to my doc appt today im currently 40wks 3 days. And I told them I have tried everything to try to kick start labor. Im still sitting at 1 cm. They told me of a resturant in atlanta ga that makes eggplant parm which they say has made over 300 women go into labor within 48 hrs of eating it. They gave me the recipe and when I got home decided to look it up. Here is the link Listen up Atlanta-area moms-to-be, and those out of towners who are willing to cook...  There is a restaurant in Atlanta that claims it's eggplant parm will induce labor w/in 48hrs.  They have a wall of babies, nearly 300 of them, who were born after their mom ate the eggplant parm.  Here is their website:

Im going to make it tomorrow night and see what happens. Let me know id anyone else has tried this. Wish me luck. :)

Re: Eggplant parm to induce labor

  • With my first, I ate a butt load of eggplant parm on Monday, and my water broke on Tuesday, 3 weeks early. That was before I knew anything of the old wives tale about eggplant. I do wonder if it had something to do with to this day, though! I made some for dinner a few nights ago because I was craving it, and have been eating leftovers for 2 days now, and it hasn't caused anything abnormal to happen...not that I would want it to at this point...I'm only 22 weeks!

  • Tried it last time. I live in Atlanta. I made it myself though. Didn't work. But I've heard stories from some of my friends!

  • I went to Scalini's last week, but am now 4 days past EDD. The food was great and fun experience, but the eggplant parm didn't work for me :(

    Hope it works for you!!!
  • The theory is that eggplant is a nightshade, and there is something in those family of plants that could (and I emphasize could) induce labor because of contractions. I think there is something about the herbs in eggplant parm too that can cause contractions. It is an old wives tale, but seems to work for some people. OWT aside, eggplant parm is frickin delicious so no harm in eating it any way. I've been eating eggplant all pregnancy - no labor for me.

Also, pineapple doesn't work, even if you walk 8 blocks to get it.
