Only Child and Only Grandchild - about to change for DS

DS is not only an only child but also the only grandchild and great grandchild on DHs side.  So needless to say he has been spoiled (but in a good way LOL) for the last eight years.  This weekend SIL announced her pregnancy.  I thought he was going to be super excited to have a cousin but he kind of got excited at first and then got teary eyed about it and wend to his room for awhile by himself. He told his grandparents that they could come visit with Auntie but the baby could stay at home with BIL!  Oh my you never know what they will say.  Had to laugh at DH though later that night as he said to me that he was glad we weren't telling him I was pregnant!  I can only imagine that reaction!

The next day he was fine again and picked up a stuffed toy and some pjs for the baby at the store and asked SIL if he could pick the baby's name.  LOL

    So sweet.  I agree that it is nice when they give you signs that they are happy being an only!

    That is true! I feel totally validated..ha ha. Also good reassurance to those new to the OAD decision.
