Not napping at daycare

My LO is about 11 months old.  About 2 weeks ago he started this no napping nonsense.  Basically he will sleep about 40 minutes around lunch time and that's it so when I pick him up he is exhausted.  He falls asleep in the car around 4:30, then I feel bad so I put him in his crib when we get home and he sleeps until 6.  He sleeps from 7:30 pm to 7:00 am regardless of whether he has his late nap.

On weekends he takes a nap from 10-11:30 and then another one from 3-4:30.  He cries a little bit when we put him in his crib.  He is into EVERYTHING, he wants to investigate every noise, every single object in the house etc.  I think at daycare he wants to be in the mix so he doesn't sleep and he's not alone in his room with zero stimulation like he is here.

Has anyone been through this?  None of the other babies in his class seem to be having this issue.

Re: Not napping at daycare

  • Yes, she's worried because he gets so tired he starts bumping his head into things. Not worried from a safety perspective but just because he is SO obviously tired and won't sleep.

  • Reese doesn't sleep at daycare. She is there 3 days a week. She is on a mat and I think that is part of it.

However our in home daycare doesn't seem to mind too much. She does rest---she reads books and plays soft music.

I don't mind because on those days she goes to bed with out a fight at about 6:45!
