Since I've collected quite a few tests over my past chemical pregnancies and current pregnancy, I decided (for fun) to take another FRER yesterday afternoon. I had taken one this past Friday and my line was SUPER dark...much darker than the control. The test yesterday afternoon? Noticeably lighter so of course I freak my shit.
Until I looked up and found the "hook effect". Any of you ladies heard of this? It's when your hcg gets so high that it actually causes the tests to give you inaccurate results. I also read that if you dilute your urine your line will get darker again.
So I tried the little experiment with another FRER test approximately 10 minutes after the first test (50 % water to 50% urine) and what do you know? It was darker! Crazy! I took another one this morning and diluted my urine even more (80% water to 20% urine). Here's the proof:
(...and I'm backing away from the pee tests, I swear!)
SU = straight urine
DU = diluted urine (50/50)
last picture w/no label from today (80 water/20 urine)
